Simon Schulz Project Engineer


Professional Overview:

Simon is a highly analytical, driven Mechanical Engineer, applying his strong leadership expertise in a range of Engineering environments in and outside the office.

During Simon’s time at Ingenia, he has initiated many internal developments and streamlined procedures. He has assisted managing the engineering space and developed multiple engineering tools. He has successfully negotiated multiple quotes regarding various engineering projects with key customers. 

He has experience in practical design and the application of Australian Standards. This includes design of platforms and walkways, pressure vessel design, and the analysis of internationally designed vehicle hoists.

Simon has also enjoyed undertaking failure analysis of various items including electrical cooktops, slag furnace shell walls, and the toppling of a container tipping truck. The analysis leads to practical improvements and improved management strategies.

He has experience in the development of designs and drawings or manufacture. This was evident in the development of a tipper and safety guarding to assist with the processing of recyclables within a local recycling plant.

Prior to Ingenia, Simon gained experience in a wide range of coordinating and hands on work; this ranged from practical manufacturing experience through running lathes and a machining centre (P J Kaesler Engineering), managing a highly successful Pedal Prix team (Concordia College Old Collegians), hands on assistance in running a shearing shed at (Martins Farm,Wynarka) and coordinating tree planting teams during volunteer work at Kangaroo Island Tree Planting Festival. This varied range of tasks has led to strong interpersonal skills and a diverse range of interest.

Simon is a developer of innovative design concepts and ideas. This is evident in multiple O’week challenge wins and undertaking a new final year project. During Simon’s final year at the University of Adelaide, he was involved in the initiation, design and development of a Compressed Natural Gas Motorcycle, Winner of the 2010 Motor Traders Association Best Automotive Engineering Project Award.

Simon enjoys the broad range of work Ingenia is capable of and when not in the office he enjoys playing indoor soccer and cycling, he is capable on 1, 2, and 3 wheels.
